Summary:
Maleeka is a girl in middle school, she's black. Just like almost everyone in her school is. Her father died so her life is already hard as is. There's is a new teacher in school and her name is Ms. Sanders and really pushes Maleeka to what she's capeable of. She has a hard time fitting in, but she hangouts with the "cool" girls just because she wants to be someone; and because they give her clothes to wear because her mother makes her clothes. She really doesn't like. Char is the leader of the group, and she is very mean to Maleeka. She pushes her around and gets her into alot of trouble. One day Char lied about a problem; Char kissed someone elses boyfriend and blamed it on her. The girl started a fight with Maleeka, so she had no choice but to fight back. So now she has a job working in the school office filing papers for no money at all. Reactions:
My reaction is im suprised that she's still friends with Char, and the twins if they treat her like that. They're obviously not her real friends if they blame stuff on her, and could careless about her.
Connections:
A connection i have with this book is that when i was in elementary school, i used to try to hangout with the popular girls. Like sit with them at lunch, then i found out that they don't really want to be your friend they just use you.
