the story ghost train is mainly about a girl choon-yi who is a artist. she loves to make well draw art. she goes to the train station and draws pictures.choon-yi goes to the train station and draws a picture her dad says to leave it over night and she lights 3 incents and runs far back. she looks behind her and her dads there. she also doesn't like the trains because it looks like a ghost train but she sits near the trains and draws them. she doesn't think she took a ride on the ghost train. in the end she thought it was all a dream.

Summary The last part of this book is Jazmyn's dad died and now the only person she lives with her older sister and she has her friends right there to make her laugh and her mom is still in the hospital in a bed thinking about her and her sister. I think I feel bad or her and the mother because she is a little girl for. The other thing is that her dad died and now she cant see him I think I can relate to that because I cant see my dad because he is in Puerto Rico but the different thing is that her dad died. A monkey king in a distant in a mountain who learns the way of Kung Fu gets over himself with his master, imprison, saved and sent on a mission. In the end of this book all of these story's come together and reflects on Jin Wang as his true self.

Why did the author put the book the way he did?

My connection with this book is that sometimes people want to be somebody else, like maybe me when I see the "popular people" I want to be them and be noticed sometimes, but I realized that I will always be me and not be somebody else besides me.

When i turned to her, I could barely see her skin. It was hidden between two policemen. I heard her mother was a drug dealer. They think that's what you do when you get to hot or is it ghetto.

July 17 in the school had a pocker party in the school every one was expect to go. But Jazmin didn't go all thought she really wanted to go to the party. September 7 school started and she is all exited and she is with all her friends and they are all talking about how good September 13 They are all talking about graduation and what kind of dresses they are gong to use because that is the last time they are going to be in that school because they are going to be in a school that is higher. September 17 Jazmin's birthday came and she is so exited the part that she was more exited was that her birthday is in a saturday. September 21 then she went to school and she told Cece that her birthday was a disaster and that she didn't have no fun in her birthday and Cece come out of no were and she says math.

The book that I'm reading is called street love and how this girl name Janice and Damien are boy friend and girl friend and the were trying to keep a secret by not telling any body about them. Then he told his friend that he was going out with her and the friend said that she is not who you think she is she likes to fool around with guy and she even fooled around with me . Then Damian got mad and he hit his friend for saying that because he said that she was a good girl and the his friend got mad and took his knife out of his shoe and slice Damian in the neck and Damian fell down. After this boy came by and the police across the street didn't do nothing and Damian had to get his self up and go to his girlfriend house. When Damian reached his girl friend house and the girl friend was asking Damian what happen and Damian said i thought you were a good girl and she said now i am .Then Damian got mad and said you lied o me you just like the other girl.

I just started reading, A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. So far it is about a kid and five friends who went to a talent show and returned to their village to find a war has reached the village. Now they are running from the war. But the war is chasing them. They stop in a village and are get caught by the chief.

Questions

How did the chief find them? How did the chief know they where their? Why did they stop when they saw the three men?

I think think the chief is going to help them. I was sickened because at one part a man's atestined where coming out of gun holes in he's chest.

BOUND.....GOOD!!! :)

I read charters 1-10 of Bound, by Donna Jo Napoli. Its based on the story Chinese Cinderella. If you liked the book then you will this one too. It's about this girl that is thridteen years old. Both mother and father pasted away. Her mother pasted away when she was seven. Then he married Stepmother. He died leaving half sister (Wei Ping) and Xing Xing. Half sister was tried better. Xing Xing was tried unfair:(. I think that she should have the same right because she works hard so her big sister can eat.
Master Tang is nice to Xing Xing because; her father were good friends. He gave her lessons. Father too gave her lesson before he died. She is good friends with him. I think that's kinda good knowing no matter what she has someone.


Xing Xing has this boy that kinda likes her. But she was too busy with doing what Stepmother says and taking care of her father's spirit. So, she returns the favour meaning their is nothing going with them.

She find three blind kits that were blind. They were a Bondon by their mother. Xing Xing was mad that they were alone. She killed two so they don't die more painfully. For example like starving t deaf. She kept one and bought it home. When Stepmother saw the kit she said she feed it till it is big. After that she killed it to eat. Half sister wanted as a pet. But Stepmother said it would be a poor pet. i think that's really sad. I would be the first one to cry lol.

She is a slave and if her half sister didn't get marry before all the pots were sold then, she be sold for a new one.
When she bought a smile to her half sister with something important Xing Xing has Stepmother approval. She wish that she can see the face again.
After the day at night she was under the stars. She remember her mother's very words that brought hate within Stepmother. That's why Xing Xing is a slave. When mother's word came out before she died no one cared but, Xing Xing.
Well back in China there was something called banged their feet. Woman would do this so their feet would be smaller. If not no man would marry them. Xing Xing is lucky that stepmother didn't do it on her. Half sister has too. It's such a pain. Ow! Ewe!

IM READING A BOOK CALLED WE BEAT THE STREETS. IT'S BASE ON A TUE STORY. IT'S ABOUT THE EARLY LIFE TIME.IT TALKS ABOUT THE THREE DOCTORS NAMED SAMPSON,GORGE,AND REMECK. THEY ALL GREW UP TOGETHER IN NEWARK. THEY ALL BEEN TROUGH GANGS, DRUGS AND BAD THINGS. THEY ALL WENT TROUGH TUFF TIMES TOGETHER BUT THEY ALL SOLVED IT AS TEAM. THEY HAVED NEVERD IMAGEN THAT THEY WILL BECOME DOCTORS.

Summary:

Maleeka is a girl in middle school, she's black. Just like almost everyone in her school is. Her father died so her life is already hard as is. There's is a new teacher in school and her name is Ms. Sanders and really pushes Maleeka to what she's capeable of. She has a hard time fitting in, but she hangouts with the "cool" girls just because she wants to be someone; and because they give her clothes to wear because her mother makes her clothes. She really doesn't like. Char is the leader of the group, and she is very mean to Maleeka. She pushes her around and gets her into alot of trouble. One day Char lied about a problem; Char kissed someone elses boyfriend and blamed it on her. The girl started a fight with Maleeka, so she had no choice but to fight back. So now she has a job working in the school office filing papers for no money at all.

Reactions:

My reaction is im suprised that she's still friends with Char, and the twins if they treat her like that. They're obviously not her real friends if they blame stuff on her, and could careless about her.

Connections:

A connection i have with this book is that when i was in elementary school, i used to try to hangout with the popular girls. Like sit with them at lunch, then i found out that they don't really want to be your friend they just use you.

I've been reading the book We Beat the Streets. The book is a true story about 3 doctors who grew up in the ghetto in New Jersey. The book tells us about the lives of the 3 boys and what they had to go through in a rough neighborhood.

When Rameck, Sampson and George were in high school they started hanging out with other friends. Some were crack sellers and they liked to get into trouble a lot. For example, Sampson started hanging out with this one guy that ended up selling crack to a crack head. The told the crack head to not smoke it in this place but he did it any ways so they beat the crack head up. The cops came a they arrested them all but sampson got out because he had good grades.

They all went down with the bad friends to jail. But they all had each backs(Rameck,goerge, and sampson). but they all had somthing in common they al wanted to go to college(Rameck,goerge, and sampson) but the other bad kids doubted them because no one from there hood ever went to college. But they wanted to be the first and they did.

my reaction was some kids profed the streets that anthing is poisable. and they also had to do it with the treats of drugs, crackheads and that they where black.what suprised me the most is how many times they went to jail and got out.

Connections:i use to be in the ghetto then my mom graduated from college and she got a good job and then we moved. it was hard because there was drugs and gangs everwhere where i use to live in NY

may 9-29 In this part of the story is that Jazmin's aunt came over the house because her mom was in the hospital and they were going to visit her. Then this guy tried to be her dad and she said that it was not the same then her aunt said the she had the brains in the family and she felt better because she was going to a different grade. Then she was talking about UFO's that they are real and her sister didn't care about what she was talking about.

Poet Slave Of Cuba, A book about a young boy whose mother is freed but not him. His owner said "once i die your free to go". So he prays, The only reason she stayed with him was because he did poetry and he knew how to say them very well. she said he was like a son to him yet she hurt him often and punished him a lot. Her older son named Don Nicolas said i hope for the when he is freed and we can ride horses and pretend we are brother. but for now he tells his mom to punish him like she punishes Juan with pain and suffer, so she dose. she has no problem with that. she said its a way to discipline kids because she says you give them so much and they are still not great full. At party's Juan goes and he is ordered to cover her ears to block out the sound. she locks him down in a basement tied were he says he knows old slaves are behind the walls dead, were no one knows about them. he sings to his mom and she replies singing as well and they always keep in touch. she is freed but not him. one day she comes to tell him his father had died and he was depressed so was she. in this part of the book is was really sad because he gets a beating every day and he is always in the basement.

Reading is important to every one and In the book Fahrenheit 451 it talks how in the future no one can read they talk to television walls and are stupid.

Summary: The book talks about a man named Guy Montag and how he is a firemen, firemen in the future make fires they don't stop them. If you read books they will find you and kill you if you don't leave the house thats what happened to Guy when his wife friend ratted him out.

During chapters 5-7, Aisha and Nadira go back to school like nothing happened and they are not allowed to speak of what happened or anything. They practically live in a life of lies and they don't even exist. Also Nadira starts to get mad at Aisha because she is perfect and almost got excepted to a good college. Also there fathers application for asylum was denied so he is being kept in jail and detained(questioned). In chapters 7-9 The story starts of as talking about how abba(their father) had an older brother named Naseem. Abba loved him but one day he just up and left to go and join the Mukti Bahini "Freedom Fighters". Also what happened in these chapters is that Aisha and Nadira go to Mr.Rashid(Their Lawyer) to get the money Abba saved up for their college fund so that they can bail Abba out of jail. Mr.Rashid wouldn't help them or listen to them so Aisha got mad and they left. Also they are both worried about what is happening to Abba in jail. In chapters 9-11 Aisha and Nadira are trying to fill out papers and get help so that they can help get their father out of jail. They are also writing a letter to the new director of immigration and their congressman pleading for special circumstances. Also what happened during these chapters is that three police officers came into the house and made everyone get up and go tho the police station at about 4'o clock in the morning. The police questioned her uncle and after over three hours of anticipation and boredom at the police station, they sent him to jail. During chapters 11-13, uncle is let out of jail but the police officer warns him that he has 30 days to get an up-to-date visa or he will face deportation. Aisha is still feeling guilty and is very hurt. Aisha gets an interview for Barnard College and when they get there, she goes in and acts like she's being interviewed, when actually, Aisha got scared and too nervous and she didn't attend her interview. Also one other thing that happened during these chapters is that Nadira follows the manicurist from lily's fathers salon that she believes is cheating on her mom with. Nadira follows the manicurist to her home and finds pictures of lily's dad and the manicurist together. Then she sees a baby. A baby that might be the manicurist and lily's dads. Lily might have a new brother or sister! In chapters 13-15, Abba is going to start his hearing. Aside to Abba's hearing, Nadira asks Tareq for help to get a real/fake visa. She goes with Tareq somewhere far away with three thousand dollars from their fathers savings. She is just about to get the fake visa but she gets a feeling that she doesn't want to.

2. Why is it so hard to sign up for a visa if you are an immigrant?

7-9: 3. Mr. Rashid is their lawyer so why isn't he helping them?

4. Why is Aisha so worried about the jail stuff. It isn't her business?

5-7: I can see why Nadira gets mad at Aisha for being perfect because everyone favors Aisha and no one barely pays attention to Nadira.

7-9: I don't have any connections with these chapters.

9-11: I can make connections with Aisha and Nadira. Sometime they are friends and really nice to each other and other times they are fighting and made at each other. That's kind of how it is with me and my sister.

11-13: I can not make any connections with these chapters.

13-15: In the beginning of these chapters, it was talking about how Nadira and her family used to go swimming in there old village. Well my family and I used to go swimming in my grandmas pool almost every weekend in the summer.

Predictions:

5-7: I think what will happen next is that Nadira isn't going to want to talk to Aisha.

7-9: I think what will happen next is that someone is going to find out about them being illegal and they are going to get into a lot of trouble.

9-11: I think what will happen next is that Aisha is still going to feel guilty and she's gonna try to help as much as she can and accidently goes a little bit too overboard so auntie tells her to back off and let her handle it.

11-13: What I think will happen next is that lily's mom is going to find out and lily's mother and father will get a divorce.

13-15: I think that the next part of the book will be about Nadira trying to get home on her own.

Reaction:

5-7: My reaction was mad that there fathers application for asylum was denied but I know that it happened so that it can make the ending better.

7-9: My reaction was mad because a lawyer is supposed to be there for you but Mr. Rashid didn't even care to help them.

9-11: My reaction was sad and bummed because instead of just getting Abba out of jail, now they have to get Abba and uncle out of jail.

11-13: My reaction was mad that Aisha flaked out on a once in a lifetime chance interview. She could have just sucked it up, did her interview, and most likely make it into the college.

13-15: My reaction was mad because Nadira made Tareq drive all they way out to the middle of nowhere and just ripped him off by saying that she doesn't want it anymore.

The book Warriors Don't Cry is a memoir about the battle o integrate Little Rock's Central High. Melba Beals had to face angry mobs and go to the Supreme Court to help Central High. Most people did not want her to do this because they liked the way it was because most adult had memories there. Melba agreed with the people, but at the same time, she wanted Central High to be the best that it can be, a nice school where teens could learn new things instead of having this raggedy building that no teens respected. Melba had to to whatever she could to help Central High. She argued and she fought her hardest for this school. 1 question: why didn't she make a petition?

The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld part 1 book review by Noah

In the book The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld takes place in New York but is acting a little strange these days but still all that matters to Moz and Zahler is there band. These two 17 year old boys are poor as dirt but somehow manage to get a gutair and amp and noting can stop them. But as Moz is walking down the NY streets a crazed women in a window has a bit of a tantrum, throwing out TV's, chairs and then a rare gutair. As Moz runs after the gutair he finds a girl trying to save the instrument also. They manage to save the gutair they began to talk about music. Then they talk about bands now making a half-band. A keyboard player and two guitarists.

A prediction i have is that they get a full band with a drummer and a singer, and that they then go to a record company. A question i have for this book is is there a series? By Noah

This book is very good it will make you feel weard the boom starts at april 7. The story begins when she was born that her mom and her dad try to find her a name that no one has in the little country so her name is Jazmin they put it with a Z insted of an S they liked the name so they named it like that. In april 16 is about a garden that is hers, Cece's and Eden they hate Jazmin when she does something wrong in the garden. The other one is in april 23 this part of the book is about JD was wearing red, black,and green every one was looking at him because he forgot that it was gray day in there school and then he had to go to the princibles office just because of his t-shirt.

The adventurist book Beowulf by Jerry Bingham is a great book about the brave HROTHGAR and his men striving for their life's battling the viscous gruesome monster. The creature is strong. But, not strong enough. Killing and beating seams to all the creature can do. Not long before over half of hrothgars army is dead on the ground. Hrothgar is not pleased with the monster one bit. So, after cold and bitter nights figuring out how to destroy the creature. He's got it. Say goodbye to the monster.

Question: A question i have about the book is how long ago, when and where did this battle take place?

Reaction: My reaction to this book was it was kind of ok. Obviously its not going to be my favorite because I'm not really into the whole war and battle thing. But I'm sure if you like wars and battles you'll love this book.

Summary: Chapter (20-22)

She's been in boarding school for 2 years now, and her family has only visited 3 times.. After Adeline got very sick, But she became better after taking medicine.

Then sortly after her Ye-Ye died.

She then won a international play writing compition! She brought great honor to her father, and Hong Kong. Adeline's father was finally proud of her. Since she won this wonderful award her father let her go to collage in England, but she went to become a doctor.

Later after she was in collage she recived a letter from her Aunt Baba.

Questions:

- Why was she getting so sick, out of no where? How did that happen if she was perfectly healthy?

-Will she obey her father and become a doctor? Or will she become a writer, what she really wants to be?

-It makes me feel bad, that she has been in boarding school for 2 years, and only got visited 3 times.. that would make me feel un-wanted and very ignored.

Adeline's family got ducks for a present. Everyone picked one but she got the last pick and it was the smallest, weakest duck. But she loved it anyways it was her best friend. At dinner a couple nights later her mean step mother wanted a duck, so her brother went upstairs and took hers. The step mother(niaga) took the duck, and gave it to the dog. Her duck died and her heart was crushed. A while later Big sister got married, (it was an arraged marrige) to some guy she just met who was 31. Adeline worried that it would be her fate. She wasn't alowed to have friends over to her house, or visit the. She disowbaded her parents and went to one of her friends birthday party. Adeline got in so much trouble. Her father whipped her and her step mother slapped her. She was very ignored at home, but very loved in school. She became her class president! Her parents got tired of her, and sent her to boarding school far from her home in shaghi, during a war so it was exstremely unsafe. Adeline's step mothers sister took her out of boarding school, and brought her to Hong Kong to join her family. Her step mother then to her to yet another boarding school in Hong Kong. People there call her a scholler, but she's negleacted amd alone.

-A connection i have with Adeline is that i got a duck, for my birthday present from my friend sam when i was six. It wouldn't stop quacking at night, so my dad decided to put it outside and leave it outside. This is like Adeline because in the book she got a duck for a present to. But her step mother gave it to their dog, and it got killed. Unlike mine, it ran away.

- My reaction to this part of the book was that i couldn't believe that they treated this young innocent girl like trash. They just sent her away to different boarding schools far away, all alone. What kind of parents would do that?? It's absoultly insane.

In the book i am reading Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. It is abouta boy called Jeffery lionel Magee. He becomes a orphan when his parents die just when he was 3 years old. From Bridgeport to Holidaysburg, Pennsylvania he runs. Ever since maniac ran from home he became a legend, they even say he was born on a dump!

I have finally finished the book and its ending was great! The two twin towers got knocked down and police chiefs were looking for people who were around at the accident and they asked for their IDs so then they showed the and Abba got arrested again. Eventually he got out off jail again. But after that he got to go back with Nadira and her sister Aisha. Then they leave to go get mama. At the very end Aisha gets accepted to college and the family is back together again. They really did get to become American US citizens. They will no longer not exist they are part of this world and the family is back together again.

Will there be a second book about this?

At the end when the family was relived it reminded me when Me and my mom finally got to California and we were relived and made a big (SIGH)

When Sam and his friends tried to steal a frosty from a big spanish person. when they where just about to get out they felt a big hand on there shoulders and they saw the big spanish person. the spanish person dragged them to the back where they saw to big dog. the spanish do said that he was going to seed them to the dogs because they where hungry. he called one of them guys to open the cage. when the kid opened it he took the dogs near the to kids. when the dogs where up in there face the spanish person let them go.

zen and the art of faking it

The main character in the book is a young boy named zen. He is the new kid in school and all he wishes is to fit in. Now zen has transfered to many schools just since kindergarten. And being the only asian in school, yah its not gonna be the best time of his life. so, to continue zen has picked a new identity to hold at every school he transfered to. But his only problem is what identity to choose!

So, throughout the book he is thinking about what identity to choose and what identities he's already covered. He's covered emo,prep,goth,western ect. And this time he chose SUPER ASIAN!

But, with this identity, things are not looking good for him. Trust me!

QUESTIONS: Will he get caught for what he really is? Why is he scared to be seen with his mom? Will the super asian identity work?

CONNECTION: My connection with the book is going to a new school. When i came to isaac i didn't no that many people. But overtime like zen i met everyone in the school. Now i cant imagine my life without everyone iv met in isaac.

REACTION: My reaction of the book is that its a total 10 out of 10. Its funny Cool and unlike any other book iv ever read. Also for me to love a book is odd because i hate books. But now, i kind of like them.

Whipped in Shame

Now that i have read charters 10-20 something joyful. She has found a friend that walks with her though she was rich and can have Someone to drive her.I think that's very nice of her to do that for Adeline. Chun-Mei was her name and she plays with Adeline. Then, PLT (Precious Little Treasure) came along. Though you wonder who is PLT well she is a duckling that Mr. and Mrs. Huang gave Adeline. Adeline loves PLT.
Big sister gets marry! By the way i never thought that she would because she is curl to her sister Adeline. She was getting marry to the doctor Dr. Sung's son. He was much older then big sister. Adeline said that she wouldn't marry someone that is older then her. i would agree with her because want to enjoy life before i have to stay with one man. When the gift for big sister came in Niang took the best one for her. And if you don't know who Niang is she is the step mother. Then after their wedding they went on their honeymoon.

Her friend wants Adeline to go to her b-day party. And by the way her duck PLT died.Adeline knew that she can't go. So, she sneaked in to her party.Adeline went home so they think she was home and not to a party.When she got their Niang slapped her for not answering her question. The question was were did she get the money. She thought that poor Adeline has stole money from her but, that's was not it she got it from Aunt Baba.Adeline had to say it. Niang was mad cuz she and father had told her not to give her money. Then her Friend got worry and called her home to see when will she be back. Guessed who answered Niang. She was real mean to her after what she heard. She told her she doesn't belong in that house any more and that she was to stay in her room with nothing to eat till her dad came home. That will take hours till he comes home. When he did came home she was whipped. which I think he should of talk to her and ask and not take it on her. He said that Aunt Baba was bad and that she soils her to much. Ye Ye doesn't want Adeline to be like the rest of them. mostly big sister.
I think i gave to much Info so i think you should read it if you liked this summary from above that i talked about.

My reaction when father whipped Adeline was that why such thing. Why can't he talk it over or someone said something. I was in anger cuz really someone that no ones cares about shouldn't be bother that much. They don't care so why do they have the right to do that. leave her alone she never was cared. Maybe that's the reason she acted that why. I can feel it in side though i have never been whipped. It's hard to talk about what you thought about it.
